Dog Clicker Training Basics

This will be the place for you to get information of dog clicker training basics... Although we already shared the Clicker The Ultimate Dog Training Revolution, but remember, this one that we are about to share right now is for beginners, that means for all of us. While that previous entry from us are more of a general thoughts on dog clicker training, apart from this one which is Dog Clicker Training Basics, that one is a more complex information that actually needs basic knowledge before we could really understand it all thoroughly.

Training your pet is all about communicating with them effectively. The more clearly you communicate with your pet the faster they will learn. One of the best training aids you can use to communicate clearly with your pet is a clicker.

Clickers allow you to clearly communicate with your dog. They can be used to send a clear message at the exact moment you need to communicate with your pet.

If you use it correctly the animal will recognise the clicker as a sign they are about to be rewarded for good behaviour.

There are many different clickers available and most are inexpensive devices that make a sound like a cricket.

They are usually small plastic boxes and can be taken anywere you go with your pet.

How Dog Training Clickers Work
Dog Clicker Training Basics
Dog Clicker Training Basics
When you first get a clicker it will mean nothing to your dog. It’s up to you to give it meaning. To give the clicker a meaning to your dog you simply click it at the same time as giving your dog a tasty treat like a piece of chicken, dog biscuit etc. Food is actually one of the things called a “primary reinforcer”.
Dog Clicker Training Basics

These are things which you can use to condition or train your dog. Other primary reinforcers include affection, play and water.

When you click the clicker and give the dog food the clicker becomes a “secondary reinforcer”. The dog begins to associate the click with the food.

Now that your dog has linked food with the clicker you can begin using the clicker sound to train your dog. This is known as “operant conditioning”. A click now has a positive association in your dog’s mind.

When you are clicking you are sending a clear message to your dog that what they are doing is good. So if you want your dog to sit and you say “sit”, when they sit you click the clicker to tell them sitting is good.

The clicker can be used to make your dog repeat positive behavior which is the basis of training your dog. The more you use the clicker method the more effective it will become.
This Dog Clicker Training Basics actually not that hard to understand, it is just a tool if you see it more likely than a weapon that we could use to control our pet, which in this "Dog Clicker Training Basics" is our dog. So why dont you just read all this.... And start taking notes to whatever things that youve learned from this Dog Clicker Training Basics discussion ^_^

We passed!

Thanks to a short-lived gap in the wintry weather, the Good Citizen tests were able to go ahead last week. Everybody must have been training hard because the pass rate was very impressive. Well done to all those who passed. To those who so narrowly missed out, keep practising, youre sure to make it next time.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all when classes resume on January 25th.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog Breed

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog Breed
Although they are small, Chihuahua dogs intelligence and braveness should not be underestimated. Besides that, their big shinning dark eyes and large erect ears have captured the hearts of many dog owners. These characteristics of Chi dogs are believed to be inherited from their ancestor - Fennec Fox.

These foxy looking dogs are popular companion dogs with alert and terrier-like qualities.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog Breed
Chihuahuas are good family dogs but not great with children. These small dogs are also very protective of family, so, strangers are advised to keep a distance away from these dogs. The best thing about Chiwawas is they are city dogs which require less exercise compare to other dog breeds. So, you are expecting your Chi dog to be comfortable easily with living in an apartment or a condominium.

In general, Smooth-coated Chi dogs have short and straight hair while Long-coated Chi dogs have long and wave-like hair.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedSome books suggests that long-coated Chihuahuas are product from the crossing between smooth-coated and Papillon dog breed or Yorkshire Terrier dog breed. Thus, some long-coated Chi dogs show very obvious butterfly-like ears (Papillon).

Like any other dog breeds, Chihuahua needs to learn how to behave. You should learn how to train a Chihuahua by house training your chihuahua puppy and also puppy obedience training.

Chihuahua and Human
How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedChihuahua is the smallest of all the dog breeds in the world. It is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico and is very popular breed, particularly in America.

These small dogs were first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1904. They are also called by people with the name Chiwawas and Chi Dogs.

History and Origins
The History of Chiwawa is very hard to trace, but there is sufficient evidence to prove that it is originating from Pre-Columbian Mexico.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedThe most common theory is that Chiwawas are descended from the Techichi, a companion dog favored by the Toltecs and that the modern dog developed through breeding with miniaturized Chinese dogs brought to the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors.

Compare with their ancestors, present day Chi Dogs are much smaller. Genetic tests have placed Chiwawas originating in the 1800s.

Group
If you are going to enter your dog for the dog show competition, it is especially important to know what group your dog belongs to in the Kennel Club of your country.

Chi Dog Breed is recognized as Toy Group under both American Kennel Club (AKC) and The Kennel Club (UK).

If you are like me, just want to have a good time with your dog, this information is not so important for you.

Living Condition
In general, Chihuahua does not like cold weather. So, put on a sweater on your dog during a chill weather. Since they are the smallest dogs in the world, they are suitable to live in an apartment or a condominium.

Exercise
Before you learn how to train a Chihuahua, it is important to know that Chihuahua training should come together with exercise. Chis body is tiny, but it still needs to exercise.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedI suggest exercising with you dog for 45 minutes daily. The lack of exercise might turn him becoming a frustrated dog which will release his energy into biting, barking and other dog behavior problems.

Remember that all dogs are NOT meant to be confined in a location. Even if you have a big backyard, your dog still needs to go out and explores the outside world.

Shedding
All dogs shed. Smooth-coated Chi dogs shed more frequently than long-coated. Long-coated Chi dogs shed seasonally, about twice yearly.

Chihuahua Physical Appearance, Characteristics, Temperaments and Average Life Span Information

General Appearance
The two basic body types of purebred these small dogs are Apple headed or Deer headed.

Apple-headed Chi Dogs have short noses, an apple shaped head, and close-set eyes, while Deer-headed Chi Dogs have an elongated nose that resembles Doberman Pinschers. They both have the same chance of being teacup or miniature.

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedAn in depth comparison about these two body types of Chihuahua will be discussed below this page. With the information, you are able to recognize instantly the advantages and disadvantages of that particular Chi Dog.

Nose
Color can be in Black, Pink or Chocolate.

Coat and Color
Chiwawa basically has only 2 varieties as shown on the pictures below:-

A detailed comparison is done below this page; you may use the information to help you make the right choice.

a) Long-coated (long-haired)

b) Smooth-coated (short-haired).

How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedSize
Height: 6.0 - 10.0 inches (15.0 - 25.0 cm)

Weight: 3.3 - 6.6 pounds (1.5 - 3.0 kg)

Average Life Span
10 - 15 years

Average Litter Size
1 - 4 puppies

Characteristics/Temperaments and Energy level
As per AKC definition, Chihuahuas are graceful, alert and swift-moving with a saucy expression. They are projecting the terrier-like attitudes of self importance, confidence, and self-reliance.

Chiwawa is one of the highest energy levels of any purebred dog. This is the reason why some owners always has problem on how to train a Chihuahua. The secret is Chihuahua training should come together with exercise.

Chi dogs like to give affection to their owners and also acts friendly to other pets. Long-coated Chi tend to be a little reserved and cautious when meeting with strangers for the first time.

Chihuahua Training Information and Tips
How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog BreedThe Chi dog is a special breed of dog that always wants to get your attention and will try his best to make you happy. But to make him a well-balanced dog, you need to teach him how to behave with puppy training.

The first sixteen weeks of your Chihuahuas life is crucial. Chi is a long life span dog that could live until eighteen years old. So, what you do in the beginning can shape them into either a well behaved companion or a dominant little dog.

Dogs are creatures that live in packs and every pack has a pack leader. It is a MUST for you to learn how to train a Chihuahua and recognize you as the pack leader. If you do not, your Chi will take the role as the pack leader and he will be in charge of the house.

You can begin with potty training, and encourage the behavior with treats. Remember that you should reward only when an order is obeyed. Once your Chihuahua potty training goal has been reached, move on to the next which is crate training. Crate training is important in establishing their territory and when praised and rewarded, your dog will look forward to learning a new lesson.

Thats How To Train Your Chihuahua or Chiwawa Dog Breed, hopefully it could help you chihuahua dog lovers out there, even just a little bit. ^_^

Bon Accord July 12

Bon Accord open show at Seaton Park, Aberdeen started off warm and generally sunny but turned into a pretty damp affair later in the day!  Dog folk are a hardy lot though and it looked like everyone had come prepared with waterproofs, wellies, umbrellas and gazebos.  Weve all learnt that British summer time can throw anything at us!

Congratulations to Ria, Jenny and Maverick on taking Best of Breed, G1 and topping it off with Best In Show!

Anaheims Dog Stolen in Home Invasion Robbery Reunited with Family

The Story of Anaheims Dog Stolen in Home Invasion Robbery Reunited with Family - It happened on Wednesday morning at a home in the 10400 block of Brookhurst Street, near Cerritos Avenue, in an unincorporated area of the county.

Police are looking for an armed home invasion robber who terrorized a grandfather in Orange County, before stealing some electronics & the familys dog.

The 59-year-old victim, who spoke to KTLA, said they saw a man come in to his yard & try to steal his cockatoos.

"I saw the man carrying my birds, & then I asked him what is they going to do with my birds? & then they lays it down, pick[s] up the gun, & I start jogging inside."

The man said they locked the back door behind him, but the suspect, armed with a semiautomatic handgun, broke it down.

The suspect found him hiding in a back bathroom, & pointed the gun at his head.

"He was pointing the gun at me. I said, Probably, this is my last," the man told KTLA.

They pleaded with the suspect not to shoot him.

The suspect ran away with a computer, some other items & the relatives pet, a one-year-old Chihuahua named Blanca.

Fortunately, Orange County sheriffs spokesman Jim Amormino was at the scene, & decided to drive around the neighborhood & look for the dog.

They found her only a few blocks away, & returned her to the relatives.

Someone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriffs Department.

The suspect remains at giant.

Other than that dangerous story about that robbery, anaheim is actually a very nice place with lots of vacation spot, check these out for more access to the beautiful state:

Mmm That Smells So Good

Wayne here,

Mom and dad went out to eat tonight for dads early birthday along with the baby and his parents. We went to a nice steakhouse for supper. We sat at a small booth and, of course, my place is under the table. I would much rather be up there with the humans getting to savor their nice meals. I did get to eat before we left the house but, being a Lab, I am always ready to eat at any given time- you just say the word. I am NOT allowed to eat any people food of any kind. Hey, I can dream cant I? Anyways, I have to lay under the table like a well-behaved boy until my raisers are ready to go. Still being somewhat young, I did move around a little and even tried to sneak a crumb of food and failed in my attempt thanks to mom. They all ate their steaks and then desserts and we left the restaurant.

When we left, we jetted across the parking lot to the Petsmart. I have never been in a pet store this big since there is not one close by our house. I really liked getting to see the fish, others dogs that came in with their owners, guinea pigs, mice, and birds. There were so many smells and things to see that it was hard for me to focus even being out of coat. Lots of people gave me pats on the head and told me I am a handsome boy. They were excited to hear that I am a puppy in training for the blind.

We left Petsmart after browsing for a good half hour, we went across to the other end of the parking lot to a Best Buy which is Dads favorite store. We looked around at numerous things and then we left to come back home. It was a good evening for us all to spend time together.

Will blog again soon,
Wayne
